I like Mastodon but I also kinda fuckin hate Mastodon because the closest I get to being in tech is the fact I built my PC which means I fundamentally don't connect with like 80% of the userbase.

@dzuk Twitter has its own problems, not least of which being a feeling of just shouting into the void, but at least you can find people who share lots of your interests.

@witchfynder_finder @dzuk twitter sketches me out for many, many reasons and so it's kind of a dealbreaker for me, but i sure would like this place to be more than what you say

i felt like it was before, but i think my cup was smaller then and easier to fill

@amphetamine @witchfynder_finder @dzuk personally, one thing from Old Twitter (i think it's been kinda gutted since i left tbh) that i miss was the indie comix scene there that i followed, because even though i can't comix worth crap they were just the warmest most wholesome little community that never made you feel alienated or like you didn't belong

the tech scene on Masto has never felt that way; it's all injokes and such

@amphetamine @witchfynder_finder @dzuk there was definitely this feeling of like… comics are an old scene with a lot of bias both within and outside of it, but all the indie comix people i followed had a very "we're all in this together and let's have a good time despite all that" mindset and would rep each other's stuff and support the cool things they were all doing and just bring so much positivity and light to the platform tbh

@kibi @amphetamine @dzuk That sounds so good. That's the kind of shit I'd want to see on Mastodon. Tech people are already here and I don't necessarily want to take their place away from them, but Mastodon needs a better way to market itself so that Other People will show up, I think. I would just like to have the option of finding people who don't have a fav Linux distro, I guess.
