one of the things the army will tell you about CPR is that you should continue until you are no longer capable, or a medic has relieved you
they also say you need to push *hard*, and if you break the casualty's ribs, no fucking problem, their heartbeat is much more important than the shape of their ribcage

they also, IIRC, tell you that if you're waiting a long time for a medic, you take turns so that one of you can rest while the other helps them
there's no failure in tagging in others where you cannot keep going, despite what our culture tries to tell us so they can wring every last drop of our lives for product or profit
