This is a photo of a crashed kiosk advertising the menu and offers at a popular Norwegian pizza restaurant chain. It shows that the kiosk was running facial recognition and basic sentiment analysis on the people looking at it.

Based on the number of people who sent me this on Twitter, it’s clear that people care and are unhappy with corporate surveillance.

The worst bit? Compared to what Google and Facebook do daily and at scale, this is a toy.

Ça nous parle d'opportunités et d'éducation pour tous avec des trémolos dans la voix, sauf que cette nouvelle version de Windows stocke toutes vos données chez Microsoft et limite quelles applications peuvent être installées. C'est vraiment du foutage de gueule !

I wonder how it will be in, say, 10 years. Will everyone have one of these devices that listens and films everything they do 24h/24? Will one be required to give access to the recordings of their private life, communications, internet browsing history and GPS position to be able to get a job or a plane ticket?
Surveillance is creeping in. And if surveillance is everywhere, the one who did not agree to be bugged will stand out.
